BRECON Northcote made it back to back wins in the Watson Financial Mid Wales League (South) with a 2-1 home success over Presteigne Reserves.

Northcote followed up a victory at Carno Reserves the previous week by pocketing three more points. For the second week in a row, Cory Evans scored twice for Northcote, his goals giving them a two goal interval advantage before Spencer Morgan got one back for Presteigne.

Builth Wells Reserves made it two wins from their last three with Dave Thomas netting both goals in a 2-1 verdict at Llandrindod Wells Reserves who enjoyed the greater share of possession.

Thomas put Builth ahead but Michael Cooper headed the hosts level from Kieran McCarley’s corner. Builth’s promising young ‘keeper, Darren Powell, saved with his legs to prevent Llandrindod going in front and the visitors broke quickly with Scott Davies teeing up Thomas who tapped home the winner.

At the top of the table, Rhayader Town Reserves extended their lead at the top to five points with a 5-0 victory at Llanidloes Town Reserves. There were two goals each for Michael Fowlie and Gareth Hughes and one for Dafydd Carruthers – all in the first half – meaning there was no way back for The Daffs.

Knighton Town Reserves saw their challenge dented after being held 1-1 at home by Hay St Marys Reserves. Dan Farmer gave Knighton the lead towards the end of the first half from the penalty spot following a foul on Jordan Griffiths but Will Goiodwin levelled two minutes after the break when he pounced n a poor back pass.

Knighton probably had the better of the game from then but missed a number of chances as two points got away.
