LEAGUE leaders Ynyshir Albions came back from a goal down to defeat the Brecon Corries in their penultimate home match of the season.
Forward Jack Bain had put the Corries in front but the Rhondda site wouldn’t allow their push for promotion from the Highadmit Projects South Wales Alliance Premier Division to the Welsh League to be derailed and hit back with three goals.
The Corries were due to complete their home schedule on Wednsday, May 1 with a visit from second placed Cardiff Draconians (6.45pm).
In midweek, on Wednesday, April 24, the Corries thumped bottom side Cwm Welfare 6-1.
The strugglers had already conceded more than 180 goals this season and the Corries filled their boots once Dale Evans opened the scoring after eight minutes.
Joe Cooper added a second five minutes later with Bain scoring after 23 minutes and Dale’s brother Joel on 33. Older brother and captain Dale then completed his brace on 65 minutes and after Cwm pulled a goal back on 71 minutes and Austin Mellor added the Corries final goal, from the penalty spot, on 85 minutes. The Corries are now eighth in the table and after facing the Dracs on Wednesday travel to fourth placed Pencoed Athletic on Saturday, May 4 (2.30pm).
