Hay St Marys Ladies hosted higher-graded Ludlow ladies in the semi final of the HFA women’s county cup in front of a record crowd at Forest Road.

With a quick start to the game both teams battled well unsure of which way it would go. Ludlow then found their feet with a great header for the first goal. The floodgates were open and after a few minutes and again after good battling from both teams, Ludlow got their second and then third goal from quick reactions and great footwork. Ludlow saw an opportunity when the keeper came out and took the fourth and quickly followed with a fifth towards the end of the half. The half-time whistle was blew. With a few words from Hay manager Rhys Edwards about not losing focus Hay came back fighting. Great passing and movement through the middle and out wide kept the score down in the second half only conceding two goals but all in all a solid performance from Ludlow as they booked their place in the final.

Hay should be proud as at present they play a format where they only play once a month and the class between the two teams was evident but Hay can hold their heads high as every player gave it their all, good luck to Ludlow in the final.
