A last-gasp winner into the top corner by Kington Town captain Joe Mayglothling secured a thrilling 4-3 victory over Wrens Nest in this West Midlands Regional League Division One encounter. Callum Craddock joined Mayglothling on the scoresheet with a brilliant brace and Zak Evans also headed home as the Yellows climbed into mid table.

Jason Davies played his first home game in goal in place of the unavailable Zeke Vivian. Tom Murphy was called to work in the morning so Josh Rogers was switched into midfield with Lewis Hughes coming in at left back. Hughes was joined by the familiar trio of Liam Edmunds, Ryan Nicholas and Keanu Barnett at the back. Rogers played along Joe Mayglothling in the midfield two. Top scorer Callum Craddock led the line with a supporting trio in behind with his brother Lewis on the left, Rory Huntbach on the right and Zak Evans in the centre.

Head Groundsman Bill Mayglothling had been hard at work in the morning to ensure the fixture went ahead and he was able to produce a decent surface for the two sides to pass the ball with confidence.

It was Kington who drew first blood through Zak Evans on 19 minutes. Mayglothling picked up the ball in midfield and played it wide for Liam Edmunds. Edmunds whipped in a wicked low cross which was met by well timed diving header from Attacking Midfielder Evans for 1-0.

Wrens Nest reacted almost immediately and were level two minutes later. Kington failed to deal with a set piece and the ball fell to the Opposition Striker 16 yards out who launched a ferocious strike which hit the bar and went in giving Davies no chance of stopping it.

Both sides battled hard but it was Kington who went ahead again from a sensational Callum Craddock goal on 40 minutes. Wrens Nest repelled a Rory Huntbach-led attack but the ball bounced up towards Craddock 10 yards out who hit an instinctive volley on the turn into the top corner to the delight of the vocal home support.

Kington once again weren’t ahead for long and Wrens Nest equalised 3 minutes later with another fantastic strike. The Away Attacker found himself in behind the Kington back four following a flowing move and he smashed the ball into the roof of the net from a very tight angle.

Both sides will have thought they were in with a chance of taking all three points and the second half began with both teams well matched but the wintery conditions started to become difficult under foot.

The pitch was no issue on 60 minutes as the away side went ahead for the first time in the match. Kington held firm on the edge of their box as Wrens Nest pushed on but they were undone as a blues midfielder hit an unstoppable effort from 25 yards which went in off the far post leaving Jason Davies stranded.

Callum Craddock has been scoring at will since he joined the club and pulled his side level on 70 minutes with an effort reminiscent of David Beckham’s famous goal v Wimbledon. Craddock battled hard all day and won the ball off the Wrens Nest defence 40 yards from goal. He quickly assessed the situation and without hesitation hit a fantastic effort over the away goal keeper which flew into the back of the net.

Both sides pushed for a winner and Kington found it on 87 minutes through Joe Mayglothling with Callum Craddock once again involved. Mayglothling started a move on the edge of the area when he played it wide to Nick Evans. Evans rolled a pass into the feet of Craddock in the box who held off his marker to tee up Mayglothling who rifled into the top corner which sparked wild celebrations amongst the Kington faithful.
