Presteigne St Andrews FC has unveiled former Knighton Town defender, Corin Jones as their new manager.

The Llanandras Park side played in the Watson Financial Mid Wales League (South) last season but are stepping up to the Central Wales League (South).

Jones arrives with plenty of experience as a player with Knighton and Llandrindod Wells where he won the old Mid Wales League and represented the Spa side in the then Cymru Alliance. He was assistant manager to Mark Jones at Knighton at the beginning of last season.

Presteigne chairman, Mark Weuiland said: “We are pleased Corin has taken the role as he has both a good knowledge of the level of football we will be going into and also of local players”

Jones himself said: “Presteigne are a club that should be playing at this level so it is now up to us to put a team on the field that will be competitive.”

Chris Shurmer, number two to manager, John Haycox last season, is remaining as assistant manager.

One team Knighton could face is Machynlleth, who withdrew from the Ardal League North East last week citing a shortage of players.
