Brecon Corries saw their miserable run continue in the Ardal League South East as they fell to a 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Risca United.
With half a dozen or so players missing through injury and suspension it was always going to be a tough afternoon for The Chisels but they took the lead on 16 minutes with Joel Evans heading home a Paul Keddle cross.
Corries, who had player-manager Damien Daniels in goal, held that advantage for an hour before Finley Skiverton equalised for Risca. Jayden Bowgen then put the visitors ahead and a late penalty from Lloyd Oliver sealed the win to leave Corries with just a solitary point to show from their last 10 games.
Corries are due to end their league season at home against Croesyceiliog tonight (Tuesday) while their youth team ended their campaign in the FAW National Youth League on Sunday when they were beaten 5-2 at The Rich Field by Cwmbran Celtic. Charlie Powell and Jamie Williams netted the Corries’ goals with league runners-up, Cwmbran scoring twice in the last five minutes.
It has been a real learning curve for Corries in their first season at this level but they have acquitted themselves well and have learned a lot which will stand them in good stead for the future.
