Brecon Corries slipped to a 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Risca United in the Ardal League South East in what manager Damien Daniels admitted was a frustrating afternoon.
Experienced goalkeeper Stephen Price, Corries’ man of the match, produced a couple of excellent early saves before Corries went ahead with a stunning volley from captain Dale Evans from a corner. Finlay Daniels saw his headed effort controversially ruled out for offside and Osian Wiltshire was denied by the visiting keeper. Jay Ryan Hughes saw a further effort disallowed before three goals in the last ten minutes gave lowly Risca the spoils. Callum Hutton levelled the scores and Luke Ewan Evans put Risca ahead. Corries then had substitute Luke Roughley sent off when he was the last man, and Evans completed Brecon’s misery with his second goal in stoppage time.
This weekend, Corries are away at Lliswerry, who are one place and two points below them in the league table, but Damien Daniels’ side have three games in hand.
