BRECON Northcote must wish their Watson Mid Wales League (South) season was just starting and not finishing as they extended their unbeaten run to five with a 4-1 verdict over St Harmon.
Northcote virtually had the points in the bag by half-time when they led 3-0 through Joel Evans (2) and Corey Evans. Rory Myles-Roberts added the fourth goal with Nick Leakey getting one back for the Swifts who have faded over the latter part of the season.
Brecon FC kept their hopes of a top two finish alive with a 3-1 victory at Builth Wells Reserves. Two late goals from Kyle O’Shea and Ben Bowen earned Brecon the spoils to put them in good heart for this week-ends trip to leaders, Rhayader Town Reserves.
O’Shea, the league’s leading marksman, had given Brecon a lead which was cancelled out by Dave Thomas for Builth who played far better than their league position suggests.
Knighton Town Reserves remain a point ahead of Brecon after their 3-1 win at Llandrindod Wells Reserves. Sean Milward had netted the only first half goal for Knighton and Marc Wozenctaft added a second from the penalty spot. Wozencraft then struck again with Jason Coles gaining a reply fior the Spa side.
Talgarth Town’s revival came to an end with a narrow 3-2 defeat at Newcastle. Goals from Toby Johnson and Scott Pavey proved not quite enough for Chris Voyle’s side as Simon Oakley Sam Morgan and Jack Kennett gave the Shropshire men the spoils.
Talgarth had picked up three points in midweek when they defeated Builth Wells Reserves 2-1 at home. Dave Thomas had put Builth in front but goals from Jordan Harvey and Alex Simmons won it for Talgarth.
Carno Reserves notched a 3-2 success over visiting Presteigne Reserves but had to withstand a second half fightback. Former Builth Wells midfielder, Harry Bastable (2) and Kris Williams saw Carno three up at the break before Presteigne hit back through Tim Office and Duanne Anning.
