SPAR MID WALES LEAGUE DIVISION 1
Radnor Valley extended their unbeaten run to eight in the Spar Mid Wales League first division with an excellent 2-2 draw at Llanrhaeadr. Joey Price announced his return from injury with a brace as Radnor twice came from a goal down to collect a well deserved point and maintain their place in the top six. Elliot Morris was denied by a fine save from Llanraheadr’s Connor Lee but Radnor did level with Price netting from the penalty spot after being brought down. Khyam Wyton headed the home side back in front and they might well have nicked another goal before half-time. Radnor hit back again on the hour, this time Morris was brought down and Joey Price blasted home the resulting free-kick. Both sides had chances n the closing minutes but at the end of the say this was a great result for Radnor against a team who conceded very little at home.
Knighton Town are three points behind Radnor with a game in hand after falling to a 2-1 defeat at Aberaeron where the wind not suprisingly played a big part in proceedings. Player-manager, Adam Worton was without Connor Bird, Mark Jones, Adam Farmer, Robbie Steele and Matt James but Harry Worton, Liam Davies, Dan Farmer and Jack Brindley stepped up from the Reserves and did well against tough opposition. With the wind at their backs in the first half, Knighton twice went close through Sam Williams while Danny Ives might have, on another day, been awarded a penalty. Aberaeron broke the deadlock with Sion Clarke netting following a free-kick on 70 minutes. Joe Prosser then produced two excellent saves and the Robins must have thought they would be going home with a point when Gareth Masell equalised. The midfielder drilled the ball home after Ives headed a Laim Davies cross against a post but Aberaeron continued to press with the wind and Mattie Davies found himself space to fire a last minute winner.
Leaders, Welshpool Town saw their lead at the top trimmed as they conceded a 93rd minute goal in a 2-2 draw at home against Berriew on Friday night. And Welshpool had only themselves to blame after wasting a string of chances.
