MMP MD WALES LEAGUE DIVISION 1

Builth Wells are up to seventh in the MMP Mid Wales League first division table after a 5-1 win at Tywyn Bryncrug.

Richie Powell grabbed a first half hat-trick as The Bulls made it five wins from their last six in the league. Three goals in a four minute spell in the first half put Buil th on their way with Powell netting twice before Sam Williams hot a 25 yard screamer. Powell completed his hat-trick before half-time and Luke Hicks completed the tally after Tywyn had pulled one back with a free-kick.

Llandrindod Wells picked up a creditable point in a 2-2 draw at Aberaeron but were hanging on in the end following the dismissal of Ben Jones. Shaun Nicholls and Michael Collister got the Llandrindod goals.

Radnor Valley slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Kerry and it has been a disappointing November for The Goats who lost at home against Bow Street last time out and have also been deducted three points for playing an ineligible player earlier in the season. At Kerry on Saturday, Radnor were on top in the first half but missed chances and some superb saves from home ‘keeper, Ryan Andrew allowed The Lambs to take the spoils with second half goals from Max McLaughlin and Ben Hendleman.

Caersws maintained top spot with a 2-0 home success over Llansantffraid Village on Friday night. Charlie Gordon made the breakthrough for The Bluebirds five minutes before half-time and debutant, Tai Jones sealed the points late in the second half.

Llanidloes Town keep the pressure on Caersws with a big 7-0 win over bottom of the table Churchstoke. A hat-trick from Peter Rees in the opening half hour paved the way for The Daffs and Rees went on to take his personal tally to four while George Clarke, Matthew Savage and Connor Bird were also on target.

Michael Collister restored the Spa side’s lead from the penalty spot but Ifan Burrell levelled for Aberaeron on the stroke of half-time. Welshpool Town’s recent good run was ended as they went down 2-1 at home against Carno. Andy Evans bagged both goals for the visitors with Wil Thomas replying for the hosts.

MMP MID WALES LEAGUE DIVISION 2

Jack Biggs grabbed a late winner as Hay St Marys moved to the top of the MMP Mid Wales League second division with a 4-3 victory over visiting Dyffryn Banw. The Montgomeryshire side took the lead through Alwyn Jones against the run of play but Hay hit back with three goals of their own before half-time. Matty Tong put The Saints level following a run and cross from Brendan Hackett and a quickfire double from ex-Brecon Northcote midfielder, Jack Evans put hay in the driving seat. But Banw had not read the script and tied the scores with goals from Gerallt Davies and Richard Williams only to see Biggs win it for Hay as he headed home a cross from right back, Tom James.

Hay are top as a result of Newbridge seeing their five match winning run come to an end as The Villagers went down 4-2 at Borth United. Newbridge made a bright start but Huto Huws put Borth ahead. Jake Bufton equalised when he converted a left wing cross at the far post but The Seasiders reastored their lead right on half-time with former Penrhyncoch striker, Jonathan Evans netting with a superb header.

Newbridge again started well after the break but Evans netted his second and Borth’s third from the penalty spot. Topscorer, Ollie Woods reduced the deficit but as Newbridge pressed for an equaliser they were caugh on the break with Huws scoring his second to seal Borth’s win.l

Rhayader Town maintained their impressive home form with a 2-0 verdict over Radnorshire rivals, Presteigne on The Weirglodd. The Red Kites have now won six out of seven at home in the league and if they can take that form on the road during the second half of the season, could well be in the title mix. A goal in each half from Ryan Addison and Jamie Evans was enough to see off Presteigne although the margin of victory would have been far greater if it had not been for Presteigne’ keeper, Fin Ozsoylu who produced a string of outstanding saves throughout the ninety minutes.

Addison netted in the first half following good build up play between Taylor Wozencraft and Gareth Hughes and topscorer, Evans secured the points after the break when Addison split the Presteigne defence.

Montgomery Town and Waterloo Rovers remain in the leading pack following wins at the week-end. Montgomery beat Dolgellau 3-1, while goals from Tom Ellis (2) and Nathan James gave Waterloo a 3-1 success over Aberystwyth University who are still chasing their first point

WATSON FINANCIAL MID WALES LEAGUE (SOUTH)

Talgarth Town increased their lead at the top of the Watson Financial Mid Wales League (South) with a 3-1 home win against title, rivals, Newcastle. The Royals came from a goal down at half-time to make it ten wins from as many games and they will be difficult to catch now although Talgarth are not getting carried away.

Callum Evans had fired Newcastle ahead in the first half when the Shropshire side perhaps felt they could and should have added to their tally. But how Talgarth turned it round after the break with Ben Sharman cutting in to equalise before a Craig Jones double won it for the hosts. Jordan Harvey and Harry Shaman combined to set him up for his first and Jones struck again from a rebound to seal a vital victory and condemn Newcastle to their first league defeat of the term.

Knighton Town saw their revival continue with a 4-0 home success against Builth Wells Reserves. First half goals from Owen Holdsworth and Josh Evans put The Robins in control and Holdsworth and Jamie Husbands netted after the break.

Presteigne Reserves notched the biggest win of the day with Tom Lewis and Spencer Napolitano each netting twice in a 6-3 verdict over Hay St Marys Reserves. Lewis Jones and Gareth Bull completed the six hit with Noah Cripps, Rhodri Jones and player-manager, Julian Assirati responding for The Saints.

Brecon Northcote chalked up only their third league win of the term with Louis Pritchard and Tom Morgan scoring in a 2-0 win against Felindre. And Northcote move above St Harmon in the league table after The Swifts were beaten 2-0 at Llandindod Wells Reserves. A goal in each half from Dan Baker and Tom Evans secured the points for Dai Evans’s Spa side who have now won three in a row.
