CONOR Bird was the toast of Bryn-Y-Castell as his goal earned Knighton Town a 1-0 home success over Carno in the Spar Mid Wales League first division.

The Robins, with games in hand are now unbeaten in four league outings and the return of the Bird following injury has been a big boost for the club.

Llandrindod Wells were frustrated when their home clash with Tywyn Bryncrug fell to a waterlogged pitch while Penrhyncoch are back on top of the table after a 4-2 victory over Llanrhaeder. Jonathan Evans (2), Owain James and an own goal made up the Penrhyn tally with Iwan Matthews and Wayne Austin netting for Llanrhaeadr.

Previous leaders Welshpool Town were held 1-1 at Llanidloes Town with Wil Thomas putting Welshpool ahead and John Evans equalising for the Daffs.

Montgomery Town remain rooted to the bottom after going down 2-1 at home against Machynlleth.
