KNIGHTON Town begin life in Spar Mid Wales league Division One with a trip to Llanidloes Town on Saturday, August 8.

But the Radnor Robins, who were Division Two Champions last season, are without several key players for their opening day clash. New signings include midfielders, Gareth Mansell from Llanidloes Town and Jack Hammond from Builth Wells while defender Corin Jones has returned after two seasons with Llandrindod Wells.

Player-manager, Adam Worton misses he start of the season as he is on honeymoon and Dave Exall and Sam Williams are cricketing while Connor Bird and Mark Jones are carrying injuries picked up pre-season.

Hay St Marys were promoted alongside Knighton and they start with a home fixture against Waterloo Rovers. The Saints, who have some very good players in their squad, are delighted highly rated midfielder, Matt James has remained at the club and are looking to be qwuick out of the blocks against a Rovers side who have lost a number of last season.s squad.

There is a more local look to Division One this season with Llandrindod Wells, like Llanidloes Town, having been relegated from the Huws Gray Alliance. This is good news for Rhosgoch, who were the only Brecon & Radnor side in the division last season so it will greatly cut down their travelling.

Rhosgoch kick off their league season at Knighton Town on August 14 while Llandrindod’s opener is at home to Machynlleth on the following day.
