Talgarth Town 7 Llandrindod Wells Reserves 0

TALGARTH Town are seven points clear at the top of the Watson Financial Mid Wales League (South) after a crushing 7-0 victory against Llandrindod Wells Reserves.

A rare goal from Gethin Davies set The Royals on their way and Jordan Harvey added the second from the penalty spot following a foul on Kyle O’Shea, who broke from halfway to net a third before half-time.

Talgarth continued to hold the upper hand after the break and Ben Sharman, Scott Pavey and a second from Harvey made it six before Conor O’Shea completed the tally with the goal of the game.

Second-placed Builth Wells Reserves slipped to a 3-2 home defeat at the hands of Presteigne Reserves, who put themselves back in the hunt for honours.

Brecon Northcote rekindled their title challenge with a 5-1 home success over faltering Rhayader Town Reserves. The defending champions, who have now lost six in a row, had led at half-time through Alex Walton, but Northcote certainly turned it around with top scorer Joel Evans bagging yet another hat-trick while James Butler and Glyn Hobbs completed the nap hand.

The game between St Harmon and hay St Mary’s was a weather casualty while in the Emrys Morgan Cup, Newcastle came from behind to beat border rivals Knighton Town 6-5 after extra-time. Jack Kennett snatched the winner two minutes from the end of extra-time as Knighton saw two men sent off. Liam Davies completed a hat-trick for Knighton who had led 4-2 and 5-4 with Liam Blythe and Adam Pritchard their other marksmen. Edgar Whately (2), Sam Morgan, Tom Bright and Richard Jones hit back for Newcastle before Kennett won it for the Shropshire men. Knighton’s frustration boiled over with Blythe and Elliot Williams both sent off.
