BUILTH Wells made it back to back league wins with a 3-1 victory over bottom of the table, Penybont on The Lant Field in the Spar Mid Wales League second division last Saturday.
Shane Claridge’s side forged a two goal interval lead with a good strike from Bradley Rollinson and a further effort from Joel Metcalf. Jamie McIlroy added a third early in the second half but to Penybont’s credit they kept going and were rewarded when Shane Pritchard netted a consolation with his strike taking a big deflection off Builth defender, Aled Powell.
Newbridge beat Four Crosses 2-0 at home to leapfrog their rivals in the league table.
The young Villagers took an early lead with Ollie Woods heading in a Lyndon Jones cross and Aeron Powell made it two when he battled his way past several defenders to slot home.
Four Crosses came back strongly in the second d half dominating possession but the Newbridge defence was strong boosted by the return of former player-manager, Adriano Giralami while 16 year old Dafydd Powell put in an excellent shift at right back.
Radnor Valley’s outside hopes of promotion all but disappeared as Steve Pigott’s side fell to a 3-0 defeat at second division leaders, Berriew. Karl Seliaerts scored twice and Richard Davies was also ion target for Berriew who look set for promotion themselves with games in hand on all their rivals.
Presteigne collected a creditable point in a 1-1 draw at Abermule. Stuart Emberton gave the hosts an early lead and Presteigne defended for much of the first half but Kieran Lusher grabbed an equaliser on the stroke of half-time.
Again in the second half, Abermule did most of the attacking but Presteigne could have snatched it when Josh Carini went through but his effort hit the bar.
