SUNDAY, July 24 was an in-form day for Spencer Cleves, although conditions were not easy the scoring was superb for the Beacons Cup, with the top five players all better than their handicaps.

Spencer came out on top with his Gross 75 - Nett 67 being the best back nine of the players tied on Nett 67. Second and Third went to Jacob Cole and Tony O’Conor, who produced the best competitive round of their season, which under any other circumstance would have won them most competitions.

Another Gross 75 saw David Wilkinss claim forth and Everett Adlam claiming fifth in his first competition round of his year.

The weather was perfect for the ladies stableford last Thursday and this showed in the scoring for the day.

Alison Matthews reduced her handicap in the process of winning the competition and Cheryl Watson claimed second a couple of shots back with Geraldine Gibb fighting off numerous other players with a better back nine.

The good weather played a part in players with 23 turning out on the day to play the course and then enjoy the sun on the patio for post round refreshments.

Results: First - Alison Matthews - 38 pts and a handicap reduction; Second - Cheryl Watson - 36 pts; Third - Geraldine Gibb - 35 pts on back nine from several other people.
