WITH spring in the air the Rhayader Motorcycle club had a great turnout for its youth Hare n Hounds event sponsored by Trailertechuk.com on Sunday, April 22.

Starting with a half-hour event for the Novice riders they were all keen the get going with Reuben Price setting the pace. Ryan Jones, after a poor start, was soon chasing through the pack, eventually catching and passing leader Reuben Price, who battled to the finish but it was Jones who took the flag. Both these two managed 12 laps while a lap adrift was 85cc winner Euan Edmunds and the 50cc of Charlie Walker.

In the Fun Bike 50cc class Sam Bridgewater took the glory whilst Brianna King took the top honours in the Trials Bike class.

A second event, for the more experienced youths, featured a much longer course and in the 125cc class Mathew Harries and Carwyn Rosser set a frantic pace swapping the lead several times with barely a few yards between them. Eventually Harries edged out a small lead to win by just over 20 seconds.

In the 85cc class Trystan Williams and Tomos Wright both completed 16 laps with Trystan ahead at the finish while Sion Evans just managed to get an extra lap in to beat Endaf Hughes in the small wheel class.

Sion Wright just pipped Alfie Davies by just under a minute to win the 65 class, with Rees Jones just missing out an extra lap to claim third. There was a good battle between Oliver Bebb and Harrison Rees in the Auto 50 class, with Bebb coming out on top.

The club has thanked everyone who helped in any way to get the series off in fine style. Next round will be held on Sunday, June 17.
