LLANDRNIDOD High School Year 10 pupil Katie Hesden has been crowned the 2016 Welsh National Mountain Bike Champion.
Following the Welsh Mountain Bike XC Championships held on the weekend at Fforest Fields, near Builth Wells. Katie, 15, says she is "really happy" to have won the weekend event and is "looking forward to the British MB Championships next weekend in Yorkshire."
Katie has been riding since age seven, racing from age 14, and is a member of the Coed y Brenin Dragons Mountain Bike Club.
Acting Head Teacher at Llandrindod High School, Ms Gill Crook, said: "On behalf of the school, and personally, I would like to congratulate Katie on becoming Welsh National Mountain Bike Champion in the Youth category.
"Her commitment and dedication to her training and competing should also be acknowledged. We are immensely proud of her and her achievements and look forward to her future successes. Well Done Katie."
