LARGE crowds are expected to attend at this weekends ACU British Enduro Championship at Rhayader.
The event, starting on Friday August 26, will kick off with the new prologue format and will see championship class riders compete head-to-head over a short extreme type test with lots of man-made hazards such as rocks, logs and tyres which is a first for the UK.
The first riders will start at 6.30pm and will count as the first special test time of the weekend.
The event, held at Cwmythig Hill, Rhayader, will see riders from all over the UK such as Steve Holcome, Jack Edmondson, David Knight, Tom Sagar, Danny McCanney and Lee Sealey compete as well as the Red Bull Factory KTM riders Jonny Walker and Billy bolt.
Top commentator Huw Watkins will be present along with DJ Backpack to keep everyone entertained.
There will also be local band Lucky Pierre singing live in the marquee and also a licensed bar, hog roast and a bouncy castle.
Following the prologue the main event will be the Rhayader two day Enduro on the Saturday and Sunday starting at 9am both days. This will count as round five and six of the ACU British Enduro Championship.
There will be plenty of battles between lcoal riders with Rhayader’s Adam James, Alex Walton and Marc Evans hoping for a good placing in the competitive expert class.
There are also classes for clubman, over 40s, over 50s, ladies and sportsman riders with 180 entries so far.
New this year is the introduction of the sidecar class on the Saturday and this is for the British Enduro Championship round for sidecars.
In the expert class, Martin Rowan and Anthony Mills from Llandrindod Wells and Nicholas Evans and Alun Evans should both be fighting it out for top honors.
The route will be 50 miles per lap using local forests plus an Enduro test at Saintwell and a motocross test at Cwmythig.
All classes will complete two laps per day with an extra motocross test at Cwmythig at the end of each day. Following the event, on Saturday evening will be a presentation of awards for the sidecar class with the Trevor Evans Memorial Cup being presented to the best local sidecar crew with Paul Dark singing live in the marquee as well as a licensed bar, beef roast, rodeo bull and bouncy castle.
