SOUTH Powys Pool League secretary Ed Lewis has finally potted a title that has eluded him for many years.

The Llanbadarn Fynydd player went along to the league's singles competition at the Ridgebourne Inn, Llandrindod Wells, last month with the intention of running the event, but ended up winning it for the first time.

He beat Llandrindod's Justin Bishop 5-2 in the final after winning his group and seeing off the challenge of Dave Morgan 4-3 in the quarter-final and Martin Griffiths of Brecon 4-0 in the semi-final.

"It's the first time I have won the singles competition in 12 attempts, having lost in the final a couple of times and in the semis more times than I care to recall," said a delighted Lewis.
