Cowbridge 67 - Llandrindod Wells 5
A VERY much under-strength Llandrindod visited Cowbridge for the first time in their history last weekend.
The visitors came up against a fast running, gazelle-like set of backs against whom it was extremely difficult to defend. In all, the hosts ran in 11 tries, with Conor Boys and Emyr Stone grabbing a brace apiece.
This contest may have been somewhat one-sided game in the backs but up front, Llandrindod took the honours particularly in the loose mauls, with their try coming from a 20 metre rumble in the first half, up to and over the Cowbridge line, with prop Ashley Hammond doing the honours and grounding the ball for an unconverted try.
After that, it really was all Cowbridge and Llandrindod were fortunate to be able to contain the scoreline to what it became, though they did spend a long period in the Cowbridge 25 towards the end on the match, but were unable to penetrate again.
This weekend Llandrindod host Glyncoch in the league.
