Brecon and District Swimming Club held a Swimathon on earlier this year at Brecon Leisure Centre to raise money for the Swim Club and the Red Cross Ukraine Appeal.

The Swimathon, held on May 3, also celebrated getting back to ‘normality’ and gave the swimmers a chance to put their hours of training into practice.

All swimmers within the Club, which also included completely new starters, swam different distances depending on their ability which ranged from 300 metres (12 lengths) to 3 miles (192 lengths). There was a little bit of competitive friendly rivalry on the night relating to the distances swam which all added to the fun.

The Club raised an incredible total of £1300 to give to its two chosen charities.

Brecon and District Swimming Club is very proud of each and every one of their swimmers for their swimming efforts and achieving such an amazing amount. Every swimmer was presented with a certificate and medal on completion of their Swim by Cllr David Meredith.

A spokesperson for Brecon and District Swimming Club Committee said: “An enjoyable evening was had by all swimmers, organisers and volunteers and the Club is very grateful to everyone who made this Swimathon possible. Diolch yn fawr iawn.”
