RHAYADER athlete Tom Marshall has set a Welsh indoor record for 1,000 metres as he prepares for the Commonwealth Games.
The 28-year-old former Llandrindod High School pupil won the invitation mixed race at the Cardiff Met Grand Prix, the Non Thomas Open, in 2.21.25 which set a Welsh record.
His Cardiff AAC clubmate Stephen Morris finished second in 2.32.97 and Charlotte Taylor-Green, of Bristol & West AC, took third in 2.44.78.
Marshall will run in the 1500m for Wales at April’s Commonwealth Games in Australia.
