SEVEN supporters of Wyeside Arts Centre successfully completed the Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday, October 7, a race which they’ve been training for since January of this year.
The group of staff, volunteers, Friends of Wyeside donors and board members took part in the race to raise funds for the Builth Wells charity.
On the day the team wore specially printed Team Wyeside t-shirts, which were kindly printed free of charge by Laura Alexander from ‘Craft-by-Laura’.
The team have been overwhelmed by the support that they’ve received and have raised a staggering £2,416!
Vic Everill, Wyeside Volunteer and Team Coach said ‘Wyeside Arts Centre is a charity which is close to all our hearts. We had the idea to form Team Wyeside in the Autumn of last year, but we never expected to receive the support which we have done – it’s quite overwhelming!’
The idea to form ‘Team Wyeside’ and enter the 2018 Cardiff Half Marathon was formed after Vic and his partner Ann completed the race last year.
Jill Mustafa, General Manager of the centre, added ‘We are absolutely astounded by the level of support which Team Wyeside has had.
We would very much like to thank every person who donated to the cause, to everyone who has volunteered their time and effort to the campaign, and of course to Vic Everill whose patience, commitment and enthusiasm got us over the finish line.’
Anyone wishing to donate can still do so online (via www.mydonate.bt.com/events/teamwyeside) or at the Wyeside Box Office.
