Grow for Talgarth’s Big Garden Weekend gets underway today and will continue over Saturday, 27 June, and Sunday, 28 June.
The Rich Brothers, David and Harry will be hosting a talk on ‘A naturalistic approach - the story of Harry’s garden’ at the Town Hall in Talgarth.
The event includes the talk and wine and cheese.
The Big Weekend events continue on Saturday with the Garden with Wheels Competition in the morning from 10am until 11am.
Also on Saturday, for free in the Mill Garden are events such as children’s story telling at 11.30am to 12 and 1.30 to 2pm. A children’s treasure hunt also takes place at 12pm and gardening talks take place from 12 to 2pm.
A craft market will be happening from 11am to 4pm in Talgarth Town Hall Basement and Red Kite Feeding at 3.30pm in Talgarth Car Park.
On Sunday afternoon, Floral Demonstration and Cream Tea with Ruminah - The Flower Bank takes place from 2pm to 4pm in the Town Hall and Red Kite Feeding again at 3.30pm in Talgarth Car Park.
Part of the event team, Rosie said: “This is a huge community event this weekend and we have been so surprised at the uptake we have had. We completely sold out of the talks a couple weeks ago and we expect well over twenty ‘garden with wheels’ turning up on Saturday morning… including a planted Chevrolet, we hear.
“There are many activities happening in the Mill garden as well as a craft fair. It’s going to be a fantastic community event. Please come along!”
