Fire crews from across Mid and South Powys worked for more than 24 hours to bring a large wildfire under control in Llangorse this week.

At 11:37am on Wednesday, August 13, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service teams from Talgarth, Brecon, Llanidloes, Crickhowell, Hay-on-Wye, Llandrindod Wells, and Rhayader were called to tackle the blaze, which affected around 50 hectares of gorse and bracken.

The challenging terrain meant firefighters had to deploy a range of specialist equipment, including wildfire blowers, knapsacks, beaters, and an all-terrain vehicle. Drones were also used to monitor the incident and help coordinate efforts.

After more than 24 hours at the scene, the final crews left at 11:47am on Thursday, August 14, having brought the fire under control.
