A body has been found during the search for a missing elderly woman from Brecon, police have confirmed.

Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed that a body was found in the river Usk on Friday, June 17.

It is not known whether formal identification has taken place yet, however, the family of the missing woman - named only as Ruth by police - have been informed and are being supported.

A force spokesperson today said: “Dyfed-Powys Police can confirm that a body was found in the River Usk on Friday, 17th June 2022 .

“The family of a woman, who had been reported missing in the area, are aware and are being supported by officers.”

Police put out an appeal to find Ruth last Thursday, June 16, after she was last seen in the Brecon area on Wednesday, June 15.

While the police revealed that they had ended their search on Friday, they have only just confirmed to The Brecon & Radnor Express that a body was found during the search.
