Ysgol Calon Cymru’s campus in Llandrindod Wells went into lockdown this afternoon after a man was seen with a suspected blade in the town.
Concerns were raised for a male, seen with what appeared to be a bladed article, on Dyffryn Road, Llandrindod Wells, heading towards High St, at approximately 3pm today.
Dyfed-Powys Police requested the school to be placed under lockdown and parents were alerted on class charts of the situation.
After around 40 minutes, Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed the item the male had was in fact a garden tool. The pupils were soon released from the school.
Dyfed-Powys Police received the following statement: “Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of concerns raised for a male, seen with what appeared to be a bladed article, on Dyffryn Road, Llandrindod Wells, heading towards High St, at approx. 3pm today.
“Several officers were deployed to the area and as a precautionary measure, due to the proximity, Ysgol Calon Cymru was placed in lockdown.
“Within 40 minutes, the male was identified and it was established that the item was a garden tool, which is now secure in a shed.
“No threats were made to the school. The pupils have all left the school.”
