The A470 at Llanidloes will remain closed both ways as emergency services respond to a serious collision this afternoon.

Two vehicles, an HGV lorry and a panel van, were involved in the collision, which was reported to police at 1.50pm.

The area will remain closed while investigations continue.

Surrounding backroads are experiencing heavier than usual traffic as a result of the incident, and drivers are asked to be patient and avoid the area if at all possible.

The fire service and ambulance services were also called to the scene.
