TWO serving soldiers charged with section 18 grievous bodily harm in Sennybridge have appeared before the Crown Court.

Jason John Anthony Paul Ferguson of Leyton Avenue, Leyland and John Joseph Ward of Station Road, Oakley, Fife appeared before Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court today, August 7 and spoke only to confirm their names at the hearing.

Both males were previously charged with the Section 18 GBH of 18-year-old Matthew Sherwood and a 16-year-old male who cannot be named for legal reason following an incident in Sennybridge just before 1am on Wednesday, July 29.

Both Mr Sherwood and the younger teenager have now been discharged from hospital.

His Honour Judge Twomlow adjourned the matter until October 2 where a plea and case management hearing will take place.

18-year-old Ferguson, represented by Nicholas Gareth Jones was remanded in to custody until the hearing, while co-defendant Ward, also 18 and represented by John Ryan, was granted bail.
