Brecon High School has recorded an impressive set of GCSE results for 2025, highlighting both strong academic performance and notable progress across key measures.
The school reports a 20 per cent increase in pupils achieving five or more A/A grades* compared with last year. In addition, 20 per cent of students achieved an average of A or A grades across the Capped 9 measure, reflecting excellence across a broad range of subjects.


“Llongyfyrchiadau! Congratulations to every student who sat their exams this year,” the school said. “Whether you achieved a personal best, overcame challenges, or simply gave it your all - your hard work has paid off, we are all very proud of you and you should be proud of yourselves.”
Standout performances came from Florence Cherrington and Meg Sheeran, who each achieved a perfect 12 A* grades. Meg added an extra A grade, bringing her total to 13 and a Capped 9 score of 522, placing them among the highest-achieving students in Wales.

Other top performers included Sam Standing, Finley Burnett, Prosper Rai, and Jacob Waldron, who each secured 10 or more A*/A grades, with Capped 9 scores exceeding 500. Alexandra Lewis and Emma Perry also achieved 12 top grades, combining A*s and As.
