A FAMILY has said that a planned development in its garden will be nothing to do with dogs.
At the last meeting of the Powys County Council (PCC) planning committee an application to build an “annexe” at Elancot, Holly Road, Howey, near Llandrindod Wells, was deferred by councillors.
This was due to councillors wondering why the application was for a stand alone “annexe” rather than an extension.
Neighbours had spoken against the application fearing that a business looking after dogs based at Elancot was going to expand and might use the annexe to house more dogs.
However the family has confirmed that this is not the case
Applicant Grace Cleaton said: “This annexe will be for me.
“My granddaughter, Sami, runs a dog boarding business from the house which is fully licensed.
“People need to understand that there’s a difference between dog boarding and kennels.”
“These dogs looked after by Sami, are treated like her own pets, they live in the house, and even sleep on her bed if they do that with their owners.
“I’m getting older, I like to have some peace and time to myself and this is the option we have gone for.
“If we get permission or not I want people to know that it’s for me not for the dog business.
The licence for Sami’s Home Boarding for Dogs is for a maximum of four dogs and they have no plans to change that.
It is expected that the application will come back before councillors at the next planning meeting which is set to take place on Thursday, October 4.
