POLICE investigating a crash that claimed the life of a bike rider are appealing to tourists who visited North Wales.

A 50-year-old motorcyclist, from the Cheshire area, died at the scene of the crash on the A496 at Llanelltyd, Gwynedd that happened at around 3pm on Sunday, May 8.

North Wales Police say the area was busy with holiday-makers and day-trippers at the time.

Investigating officer, Pc Gareth Rogers from the Roads Policing Unit said: "I am appealing to anybody who may have been travelling towards the Barmouth area and who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

"The motorcyclist was travelling with a group of other motorcyclists who were heading towards the Barmouth area. We know that the road was very busy at the time with weekend holiday makers and anybody who may have information that could assist our investigation are asked to contact us."
