ARLET will be coming the Assembly Rooms in Presteigne just days after the launch of their new album Big Red Sun.
Propelled by the restless creativity of accordionist and composer Aidan Shepherd, Arlet’s sound brings together all the primary colours of the orchestra - strings, woodwind and brass.
Kent-based Arlet draw on folk idioms as a route to their own brand of carefully sculpted, harmonic and textured music. They perform on an eclectic range of instruments sounding sometimes like a chamber orchestra, sometimes like a jazz combo, sometimes like a folk session. There are few comparisons besides perhaps the Penguin Cafe Orchestra and Bristol’s Spiro.
Five years on from their first recordings, Arlet release their anticipated second album on March 9.
Arlet play the Assembly Rooms at 7.30pm on Saturday, March 12. Ticketsare £8 for adults and £4 for children from The Workhouse and Courtyard Antiques in Presteigne on the door and http://www.wegottickets.com/event/348523
