Powys Health Charity has thanked the local community after its 2025 Festive Fundraiser campaign raised funds and brought festive cheer to patients across the county.
The charity said the campaign’s success was made possible by donations, volunteer support, and the efforts of local businesses, ensuring patients felt remembered and cared for during the Christmas period.
Special recognition went to Jenny, Morrison Community Champion in Newtown, and Rory at Morrisons Newtown, who organised the majority of the gifts distributed this year. Support also came from Jo at Earthbound Organics; Nicola at LHC Procurement Group; Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW), which donated £1,000; Unison; and staff at The Works in Brecon and Cardiff.
A dedicated team of volunteers, affectionately known as the charity’s “elves,” spent time wrapping gifts for patients, including those expecting a baby. This meant all recipients received a thoughtful festive surprise on Christmas morning.
The campaign also celebrated the arrival of a new life: Emma Brooks and Steven Thomas welcomed baby Olivia Rae, born at home in Builth Wells at 9:59pm on Christmas Day.
The charity said its JustGiving page raised £294, boosted by contributions from supporters and participants in the festive “Elfie Selfie” initiative.
Powys Health Charity said it was “deeply grateful to everyone who played a part” in the fundraiser and made it a success.
