A dynamic cyber security training company based in Brecon, which is helping to protect businesses, organisations and lives, completed a notable double at the prestigious Powys Business Awards 2025 on Friday night.

SudoCyber Ltd won the Small Business and Technology & Innovation Awards, sponsored by BCRS Business Loans and Aberystwyth University, respectively, at the annual awards ceremony held at The Hafren, Newtown.

Organised by Mid Wales Manufacturing Group, the awards showcase the diverse range of successful enterprises within Powys.

The company, which has 17 employees based in The Old Post Office, Brecon, was formed in 2021 and delivers cutting edge training solutions to individuals and organisations across the UK and internationally.

The company is led by and focused on employing and harnessing the expertise of British Armed Forces veterans. It is also in the process of creating a hub, called the Cookhouse cafe, in the centre of Brecon specifically to support veterans.

Chief executive John Davies said: “We are absolutely over the moon to be recognised with two awards in our home county, which is fantastic. They are a huge boost our staff who work hard every day.”

Chief financial officer Sherrie Woolf added: “The cyber world and cyber threat are ever evolving and we have developed the technology to respond to that in a timely manner. We are bringing military grade training and capability to front line for businesses and academia.”

SudoCyber has quickly become a recognised name in the cybersecurity industry, providing services that have had measurable impact both commercially and on human life in warzones. The company provides hands-on training simulations designed to mirror real-world cyberattack scenarios. These simulations build technical resilience within organisations and give individuals, from beginners to experts, the tools and instincts to respond effectively in cyber crisis situations.SudoCyber’s core product is an online cyber training platform, developed entirely in-house. It replicates high-pressure scenarios where trainees must detect, respond to and mitigate cyber threats in real-time.

The company has collaborated with organisations ranging from small businesses to international non-government organisations (NGOs), refining training based on feedback from frontline users, including those operating in warzones. One of SudoCyber’s most compelling achievements is its life-saving training work in Eastern Europe where cyber warfare is a daily reality.

Training sessions have enabled key infrastructure, such as hospitals, logistics networks and communications systems, to remain operational during cyberattacks. During a large-scale ransomware attack on a regional medical network in 2023, staff who had completed SudoCyber’s training were able to contain the threat within minutes, restore systems and ensure that life-saving medical equipment continued to function.

Since its launch, SudoCyber has grown revenue by 400% year-on-year, secured contracts with more than 25 UK-based clients, including police, military and universities and developed partnerships with two international NGOs and one foreign government.

The company hosts free cyber awareness workshops for Powys schools and community groups, offers internship programmes and cyber career pathways to Powys colleges, sponsors digital education to protect older residents from online threats and offers discounted services to Powys-based microbusinesses.

Plans for the next five years include expanding internationally and in the UK public sector, launching a Welsh-language training module and establishing a cybersecurity training hub in Powys.“SudoCyber exemplifies what the Powys Business Awards are all about: innovation, resilience, community impact and a global mindset with local roots,” said Marc Del-Valle, founder and chief operations officer.

The award judges said: “SudoCyber is a fascinating business offering a mind-blowing service that has the potential for massive, positive, global impact. The team are strategically focused, professional, friendly and incredibly knowledgeable.”
