Farm tenants who run a smallholding in Powys have been honoured at the RWAS Winter Fair.
Joseph Hughes and Lindsay Davies from Glasbury-on-Wye have been recognised for their achievements in a Wales-wide scheme.
The pair farm Powys County Council smallholdings and are winners of the Brynle Williams Memorial Award which celebrates the achievements of young farmers in Wales. Their success was formerly recognised at the Winter Fair by the Chairman of Powys County Council, Cllr Paul Aston.
Speaking at the fair, Cllr Ashton said: "We are incredibly proud that Powys County Council farm tenants have won this prestigious award for two years running.
"Our farms estate gives people the chance to set-up and develop farm-based businesses in rural areas. It gives me great pleasure to personally congratulate Guto, Joseph and Lindsay on their success and I wish them all the very best in the future."
Joseph and Lindsay won the award in 2014 for their clear understanding of the needs of their farm business and enthusiasm for the industry. They are currently in the fourth year of their tenancy of Rogerstone Farm smallholding in Cwmbach, Glasbury-on-Wye. The 105-acre farm has a flock of 400 ewes and a small suckler herd.
The award marks the life of former Assembly Member and farmer, Brynle Williams, in recognition of his contribution to Welsh agriculture. It celebrates the achievements of young farmers who are part of the Welsh Government’s Young Entrants Support Scheme.
