THE doctors’ surgeries in Hay-on-Wye and Talgarth have invested in new defibrillators with support from local voluntary group Black Mountains Lions.
The medical centres’ existing defibrillators are both 10 years old so it was decided they needed replacing.
The new defibrillators, complete with emergency trolleys, are now in position at both of the Haygarth surgeries.
A defibrillator is a vital piece of equipment that helps shock the patient’s heart back into life after a cardiac arrest.
Cheryl Hyde from Black Mountains Lions said: “It is vital that the surgeries’ equipment is kept up to date and the Black Mountains Lions were very pleased to be able to help support this venture by contributing £2,000 to the total cost.
“There is now an up-to-date, highly sophisticated defibrillator kept in the treatment room, together with the emergency trolley, in both the Haygarth Surgeries.”
Black Mountains Lions are always looking for new members and support with their fundraising events. Their monthly meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month at the Baskerville Arms, Clyro. Anyone interested in joining should contact David James on 01497 820227 or email Cheryl at [email protected].
