A BRECON musician is part of a band battling to be crowned £10,000 winners of the first ever Band Cymru 2014 competition which is currently unfolding on S4C.

Trumpet player and wind and brass teacher at schools across Powys, Robert Moeller, of Camden Crescent, Brecon, plays lead trumpet for Capital City Jazz Orchestra who have been successful in getting through to the televised semi-final rounds of the event.

Tongwynlais Temperance Band and the Tredegar Town Band have already won through to the overall final (to be screened on S4C at 9pm on Saturday, May 24) after their respective rounds (screened on April 26 and May 3).
