Brecon Cathedral are calling for all creatures great and small this coming weekend for their annual Pet Service.
On Sunday, 5 October, at 3.30pm the cathedral will play host to the pets of Brecon and the surrounding areas.
Brecon Cathedral invites pets of all sizes, along with their families to give thanks to God for cherished friendships.
The service gives opportunity to thank God for the gift of animals, and for us to ask His blessing on all that He has made.
The Dean, The Very Reverend Dr Paul Shackerley, said: “For many years the Cathedral has been a dog friendly church. Dog owners, tourists and pilgrims feel especially welcome and pleased to learn we welcome dogs into the Cathedral.
“Churches are encouraged one Sunday a year to devote to animal welfare, which tends to be the nearest Sunday to giving thanks for the life of St Francis (4 October). It is a joyful and simple occasion, the animals behave themselves, although there are often a few barks during the singing. The service reminds us how much furry animals enrich our lives with companionship as part of God’s creation.”
