BRECON came alive to the sound of music once more during the second weekend of August as the Brecon Jazz Festival returned to the streets.

Street entertainment was staged in the town centre throughout Saturday, August 10 after organisers closed the Bulwark and High Street Inferior in a bid to revive the annual event's famed carnival atmosphere for the 30th festival that ran from Friday until Sunday, August 11.

Pubs, churches and other venues also joined in the fun staging events as part of the Brecon Fringe Festival throughout the weekend.

The jazz also featured headline performances from British jazz pioneer Courtney Pine, trad jazz favourite Acker Bilk and a closing concert from Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra.
