A MAJOR shake up of traffic restrictions in Brecon could see parking outlawed in various streets across the town.

A public consultation on proposals to prevent daytime parking in some areas, the imposition of new double yellow lines and the lifting of some existing restrictions was due to close on Wednesday, November 6.

Powys County Council has also proposed extending the half hour parking restriction in town to an hour.

Brecon St Mary's ward councillor Paul Ashton said there had been concerns about parking in residential areas and near the town's hospital, though people working in Brecon say they fear the cost of having to pay to park.

A final decision on the proposed restrictions will be made by the council's Brecknockshire committee.
