Brecon Rotary Club has announced that its Community Chest is now open for applications.

The Community Chest Scheme allows local clubs, small charities and organisations an opportunity to bid for grants of up to £500 to support projects which enhance community life in and around the Brecon area. Projects can be directed at any age group or section of the community. Further details and an application form can be found on the club website

Club President, Anne Ingham, said: "The Community Chest Fund is open to not for profit organisations in the Brecon area, and applications which meet our criteria, as outlined in the guidance, will be considered. The main objective of the Fund is to make a difference to people’s lives and organisations who can demonstrate how a grant would make a difference will stand in good stead."

The following are some organisations/projects which have benefited from funding over the last few years - Brecknock Little Theatre, Brecon Volunteer Bureau, South Powys Youth Music, Brecon Prom Fest, take pART, Brecon Neuro Cafe´ (Stroke Association), Brecon Folk and More Club, 1st Brecon Scouts, Brecon and District Swimming Club, BCA Independent Advocacy Services, Red Kites Cluster Girls, The Friends of Llyswen School, Hay and District Dial a Ride, JKS Wales - Brecon Senshi Karate Judo, Llangors Youth and Community Centre and Brecon Integrated Sports Association.

Brecon Rotary will consider all applications received by Thursday 20 May 2021 and plan to make a decision by 17 June 2021.

Those shortlisted will be invited to an evening event at which they will be asked to give further details about their project or be open to a visit by members of the Brecon Rotary Club so that they can explain their project further. These gatherings will however be subject to Covid-19 restrictions.
