Powys County Council has moved to dispel online rumours suggesting that Neuadd Brycheiniog in Brecon is being used to house asylum seekers.

In a social media post, the council confirmed that these claims are untrue and that the building on Cambrian Way will not be used for this purpose.

The county council said: “We’re aware of false rumours circulating online suggesting that Neuadd Brycheiniog in Brecon is being used to house asylum seekers. We want to be absolutely clear: these claims are completely untrue. Neuadd Brycheiniog will not be used for this purpose.

“We urge residents to be cautious about what they read on social media.

“If you have any concerns or questions, please contact your local County Councillor directly – they’re there to help and provide accurate information.

“Let’s stop misinformation in its tracks – share this post to help spread the facts.”
