THE Brexit Party topped the poll in Powys in the European Parliament Elections.
The party, formed by former UKIP leader Nigel Farage, won 19 of the 22 council areas in Wales to claim two of Wales’ four seats in the European Parliament.
Across Wales Plaid Cymru came second, pushing Labour into third.
That meant Plaid Cymru’s Jill Evans retained her seat while Labour, which topped the poll in Wales in 2014, kept hold of its one seat but rather than taking first place Jackie Jones took the fourth and final Welsh seat.
Brexit Party MEP Nathan Gill had been elected as a UKIP member in 2014 but after quitting the party stood for the Brexit Party to take first place. The second Brexit Party MEP elected for Wales is James Wells.
The Conservatives lost their Welsh seat.
The poor result for Labour meant there was no chance of the Labour Group leader on Powys council, the Brecon councillor Matthew Dorrance, winning a second seat for the party.
In Powys the Liberal Democrats, who finished fourth across Wales and without any representatives, took second spot.
The Brexit Party took 35% of the vote in Powys, Lib Dems 23%, Plaid Cymru 12%, Conservatives 9%, Labour 7%, Green 7%, UKIP 3% and Change UK 1.9%.
Across Wales Brexit Party topped the poll with 32.5%, Plaid Cymru had 19.6%, Labour 15.3%, Lib Dems 13.6%, Conservatives 6.5%, Green 6.3%, UKIP 3.3% and Change UK 2.9%.
Across the UK, on results so far declared, the Brexit Party won the most votes with the Lib Dems second. The UK turnout was 36.7%.
