The Builth Wells Rotary Club Quiz had another successful evening recently to help raise funds for Helping Our Homeless Wales.

The quiz is held on the third Tuesday of each month, in The Greyhound Hotel, Builth Wells.

The money raised is then doubled by the Builth Rotary and the total allocated to a different charity each month.

The recipients this month received a cheque for £171.

The cheque was presented by Builth Wells President, Ciaran O’Connell to Sarah Mason, co-ordinator of the Builth Wells Community Hub.

Sarah has been running The Hub, which is located near Jewsons, with the help of other volunteers, to provide a warm space and hot meals for those people who are finding life is a struggle.

Sarah’s focus this coming month is Christmas. She has a Christmas Present Appeal and a Christmas Dinner Campaign. This will allow people to pop into The Hub over December 23 and 24 for a home-cooked meal, or it can be delivered free of charge.

The Hub is also preparing for a large increase in food pantry donations as the weather changes.

Sarah informed Builth Rotary that they are currently trying to raise enough funds to purchase 100 selection boxes to donate to our most vulnerable children in schools locally.

It’s a very busy time, and opening up a warm space also means additional volunteering, which the team tries to balance with their home lives and jobs.

Sarah says they can be found on Facebook, or pop in for a chat - any help is appreciated.
