The smell of freshly ground coffee is soon set to fill The Struet, as Brecon is poised to welcome a new coffee business into town.

Two Dogs Coffee Roasting Company Ltd is on track to open its doors at 104 The Struet this month, which is set to be a roastery, retail outlet and takeaway.

The businesses, which is run by Sian and John Bowen (with the help of their two terriers Gelert and Jack), has been roasting coffee and trading online from their home in Treorchy and attending markets, events and food festivals with their coffee van since 2017.

Sian said: “We decided now was the time to expand into the High Street to make our coffee more accessible and to enable us to roast in larger quantities.

“After a bit of a search we found premises in Brecon and are opening Two Dogs Coffee and Tea Emporium on The Struet shortly.

“We have been asked on numerous occasions if we do tea as well so we will be selling 16 loose teas as well as around 30 different coffee beans both ready packaged and loose for customers to bring their own containers to fill. There will also be a selection of coffee machines and tea and coffee making accessories."

The star of the shop is set to be their new 15 kilo coffee roaster.

Customers and coffee connoisseurs will be able to watch their premium coffee beans from around the world being roasted. This is as well as sample tasters to help you with your choice of bean, before purchasing the coffee either ready packaged in fully recyclable bags - or filling your own container from their gravity bins. You will also be able to grind your coffee beans to your required grind.

Sian added: “We are hoping the shop will evolve naturally and we will go on to sell other items and to offer events and courses in the not too distant future.”
