PARENTS are demanding a school bus be allowed to use a lay-by instead of a designated bus stop.
At present children of primary school and secondary school age must cross the main A470 trunk road when their school bus drops them off in Libanus at the end of the school day.
The North to South Wales trunk road runs through the Brecon Beacons village and parents say allowing the school bus to cross the single carriageway and drop children off in the lay-by would eliminate the risk of some 20 children and parents crossing the busy road.
Powys County Council has however rejected the bid, citing a number of collisions involving vehicles turning right into the village.
