CAMPAIGN group Powys Uncut is planning a postcard campaign to tell council leader Barry Thomas how its services are valued.

The group launched its anti austerity campaign with meetings in Brecon and Llandrindod Wells, which were poorly attended.

But those behind the campaign say they plan to ask members of the public across the county to fill out postcards, addressed to Powys County Council leader Barry Thomas, about how they value council services.

The council has already run public consultation events across Powys as it must save £16 million next year and £70 million by 2020. The Welsh Government is cutting its grant to the council by £7.7m next year.

The Welsh Government has blamed the austerity policies of the Westminster Conservative/Liberal Democrat coalition government for it having to cut council budgets.
