A DILAPIDATED shed that was used by a school playgroup and had become a home for mice has been replaced thanks to the Black Mountains Lions Group.

The voluntary body donated £750 to the playgroup which meets at Clyro school – allowing them to purchase a new shed and storage boxes for the soft toys which the mice had been nesting in.

The new shed is sited in the grounds of the new school building which Clyro Church in Wales School moved to this summer.

Black Mountains Lions president Jenny McKiroy said: “We were delighted to be able to come to the rescue. The old shed, which housed all the playthings, was falling apart and wouldn’t survive the move to the new school and mice were nesting in the soft toys.”

Following a presentation to mark the donation members of the Lions club had a tour of the new school followed by coffee. The playgroup meets at 9am on Monday mornings at the school and children play outside in good weather and in the school hall and there is also a different craft session each week.
