FIGURES released this week reveal that than 65 boats attended the Brecon Rally to celebrate the 21st Birthday of the Monmouthshire, Brecon & Abergavenny Canals Trust and show that the eventwas a huge success. The event raised over £1500 towards restoration projects on the Mon & Brec Canal. A further £939 was raised by the Great Canal Balloon Race sponsored by Eaglemart.co.uk, 939 balloons were released on the day and some have reached as far as Italy and France, so feed back has informed us. "We were so happy with the public response to the rally said (Chris Morgan) Events Officer "I just wish we could have one in Brecon every year, but we will be back in 2006, hopefully even bigger." Next year's big rally will probably be at Talybont-on-Usk, funding pending. The trust is currently putting together its 2006 events list which will be made available in October.
